Notification of Change Level 1
Swagelok has earned a reputation for unmatched quality and consistency at the component level. We are committed to maintaining this reputation while continuing to grow and improve our product offering. At times, this requires changes to the form, fit or function of our core products.
This Level 1 - Notification of Change sets forth changes to one or more of the products you may have purchased from Swagelok or an authorized Swagelok sales and service center. Prior to release, each change listed was carefully evaluated in accordance with the Swagelok Quality System, to minimize impact to you, our end customer.
A Level 1 Notification relates to an applicable* change impacting Form, Fit and/or Function ("FFF") or the cosmetic appearance of a standard product. "Standard product" is any product that does not include a customer specified product or process attribute and can be purchased by any customer. This includes off-catalog product that can be assembled through designators, assemble to order ("ATO"), make to order ("MTO"), product produced by other means.
Unless otherwise noted, all changes are rolling changes and will take some time to flow through our global inventory. If you have questions regarding the impact of this change on your applications, please contact your local authorized Swagelok sales and service center representative. They, along with regional technology centers, and trained field engineers, are available to assist you.
The Following Level 1 Changes have been communicated:Effective Date: September 17, 2020
Product Name: Gaugeable Preswage Tool
Description and Reason for Change: The gaugeable preswage tool is moving from a one-piece body design to a two-piece design except for the 5/8 inch size, similar to the standard Swagelok preswage tool design. The new design uses a machined insert that is pressed into a cast body. This will result in an improvement in manufacturing output.
All functional dimensions are remaining the same. However, there will be a visual and physical difference for the tool (greater overall length and body diameter). There is no impact to product function. Ordering numbers will remain the same. Implementation for the change has begun and shipments of the new design will take place throughout October; we will be fully transitioned for the impacted sizes by the end of October.

Product Name: HK Series Bellows Valve Discontinuance
Description and Reason for Change: HK series brass and alloy 400 bellows valves will no longer be available after remaining inventory has been depleted. The raw material used in the production of the bellows has been discontinued and a new, robust supply chain is unavailable. The decision has been made to discontinue the product line as viable alternative products are available as listed below.
New requests will be fulfilled on a first-come, first-served basis until inventory is depleted. For applications requiring compact brass bellows valves, the brass BK series continues to be available. The H series stainless steel bellows valve will also remain available.

Product Name: T Series Hose Transition to a Crimped Design
Description and Reason for Change: Swagelok's Hose Service Group is transitioning the T series hose from a swaged end connection to a crimped design. The transition will start in Q3 2020 for made-to-stock products, which are listed in the catalog as BHT and MBHT part numbers. The new design offers significant advantages over the older swaged product:
- The new product's performance provides an increase in the pressure rating at elevated temperatures, potentially increasing application uses.
- The transition to crimped components allows us to transition the product from material trace 2 to a trace 1 design with a stamped heat code, improving traceability.
The changes to the product include (see Hose and Flexible Tubing, MS-01-180, for updated technical data):
- Smaller minimum ID and maximum OD due to the crimping dimensions
- Shorter live length due to the extended length of a crimp collar
- Updated appearance of the crimp collar compared to the swaged design
- Improved pressure and temperature ratings
Customers who are purchasing BHT/MBHT products and still require swaged versions in the near future should work with their local Swagelok sales and service center to identify available options.
Effective Date: June 22, 2020
Product Name: Change to Sensor Lock Washer on All ALD3 and ALD6 Valves
Description and Reason for Change: In March 2020, it was announced that the lock washer would no longer be used on select ALD6 assemblies with installed sensors. In the spirit of continuous improvement, we are implementing this change to all ALD3 and ALD6 valve assemblies, excluding ALD3E valves, to improve the consistency of the sensor response. The removal of the lock washer will result in a slight visual change to the assembly.
Effective Date: June 12, 2020
Product Name: Subsea Weld Fitting Dimension Changes to Elbows and Tees
Description and Reason for Change: Due to product improvement efforts, the 1/4 and 3/8 inch subsea weld fitting hex wrench pad and weld tangent length dimensions will be changed, increasing manufacturing efficiency. The overall length and center lines are not affected. This is effective immediately.
These dimensional changes affect the elbow and tee configurations of these sizes only. They will apply to all materials of these sizes and configurations (316L, alloy 2507, and alloy 625).

Product Name: Swagelok ISO-5211 Compliant Pneumatic Actuator Label Improvement
Description and Reason for Change: We currently offer a variety of ISO-5211 compliant actuators either sold as kits or installed on our general industrial ball valves. To improve the accuracy of the identification on the actuator and provide a clearer understanding of actuator operation, we are implementing changes to the information label printed on each actuator.
Changes to the label include:
- Actuator identifying information grouped together on the left (e.g. serial number, model)
- Technical data grouped together in the upper right (e.g. output torque, temperature range)
- ATEX approval information grouped in the lower right and expanded
- Redundant diagrams removed
The new label will be introduced in the coming months. While this change is implemented, you may see shipments containing both versions of the label until inventory is depleted.
Effective Date: April 30, 2020
Product Name: Change to Finish on EZ Supports
Description and Reason for Change: Effective April 30, 2020, a change to the coating used on EZ Supports will be implemented. All future EZ Supports structural pieces will now have a hot-dipped zinc galvanized finish instead of a zinc metallized finish. The stands, bases, and supports can no longer be provided with the zinc spray metallized finish due to a process change by the supplier.
There is a visual difference between the two finishes. It will not affect fit or function.
Effective Date: March 17, 2020
Product Name: Sensor Lock Washer on Select ALD Valves
Description and Reason for Change: In the spirit of continuous improvement, we are implementing a change to select ALD valve assemblies to improve the consistency of the sensor response. This will result in a slight visual change to the assembly.
Currently a lock washer is present below the jam nut on ALD valves with installed sensors for assembly purposes only; the lock washer does not play a role in the function of the valve assembly. Moving forward, this lock washer will be removed on select assemblies, reducing variability in sensor response times. Please note this does not impact the function of the valve. At this time, this change will only impact the following ordering numbers due to market-specific considerations:
While this change is implemented, you may see shipments containing both versions of the valve assembly until the transition is complete. Remaining ordering numbers are currently being evaluated for this change and remain unaffected until further notice.
Effective Date: February 20, 2020
Product Name: Update to 1/4 in. and 6 mm Assembly-by-Torque (AbT) Fittings
Description and Reason for Change: The 1/4 in. and 6 mm sizes of the Assembly-by-Torque (AbT) fitting have been updated to utilize the patented dynamic zone in the nut design to provide a more readily available product and design consistency among all of the AbT fitting sizes. This update complements the prior launch of the 3/8 and 1/2 in., and 8, 10, and 12 mm sizes announced in 2017. All sizes are approved to NGV 3.1, ISO 15500, and ECE-R110.
Effective Date: February 14, 2020
Product Name: Packaging of High-Purity and Ultrahigh-Purity Valves
Description and Reason for Change: Historically, high-purity and ultrahigh-purity valves have been packaged on a white suspension card before being placed into a Swagelok box. Due to the supply chain for white cards, they have been replaced temporarily with brown suspension cards. These brown cards are functionally identical to the white cards with no impact to product quality. Bagging practices and materials will not change.

Product Name: Nylon Fittings and Alloy 20 Fittings, Hose and Valves
Description and Reason for Change: Nylon fittings will be discontinued; however, nylon nuts and ferrules will continue to be available. Alloy 20 fitting, hose, and valve products will be discontinued. A selection of valves and fittings in alloy 825, which has material characteristics similar to alloy 20, will continue to be available.
* Applicable changes which would require notification to a Distributor or end user include changes which impact the form, fit or function of a product attribute or measurement as described in Swagelok data readily available to customers or when a change is made that is cosmetically detectable to the customer.
