Notification of Change Level 1
Swagelok has earned a reputation for unmatched quality and consistency at the component level. We are committed to maintaining this reputation while continuing to grow and improve our product offering. At times, this requires changes to the form, fit or function of our core products.
This Level 1 - Notification of Change sets forth changes to one or more of the products you may have purchased from Swagelok or an authorized Swagelok sales and service center. Prior to release, each change listed was carefully evaluated in accordance with the Swagelok Quality System, to minimize impact to you, our end customer.
A Level 1 Notification relates to an applicable* change impacting Form, Fit and/or Function ("FFF") or the cosmetic appearance of a standard product. "Standard product" is any product that does not include a customer specified product or process attribute and can be purchased by any customer. This includes off-catalog product that can be assembled through designators, assemble to order ("ATO"), make to order ("MTO"), product produced by other means.
Unless otherwise noted, all changes are rolling changes and will take some time to flow through our global inventory. If you have questions regarding the impact of this change on your applications, please contact your local authorized Swagelok sales and service center representative. They, along with regional technology centers, and trained field engineers, are available to assist you.
The Following Level 1 Changes have been communicated:
Effective Date: May 4, 2020
Product Name: Swagelok ISO-5211 Compliant Pneumatic Actuator Label Improvement
Description and Reason for Change: We currently offer a variety of ISO-5211 compliant actuators either sold as kits or installed on our general industrial ball valves. To improve the accuracy of the identification on the actuator and provide a clearer understanding of actuator operation, we are implementing changes to the information label printed on each actuator.
Changes to the label include:
- Actuator identifying information grouped together on the left (e.g. serial number, model)
- Technical data grouped together in the upper right (e.g. output torque, temperature range)
- ATEX approval information grouped in the lower right and expanded
- Redundant diagrams removed
The new label will be introduced in the coming months. While this change is implemented, you may see shipments containing both versions of the label until inventory is depleted.
Effective Date: April 30, 2020
Product Name: Change to Finish on EZ Supports
Description and Reason for Change: Effective April 30, 2020, a change to the coating used on EZ Supports will be implemented. All future EZ Supports structural pieces will now have a hot-dipped zinc galvanized finish instead of a zinc metallized finish. The stands, bases, and supports can no longer be provided with the zinc spray metallized finish due to a process change by the supplier.
There is a visual difference between the two finishes. It will not affect fit or function.
Effective Date: March 17, 2020
Product Name: Sensor Lock Washer on Select ALD Valves
Description and Reason for Change: In the spirit of continuous improvement, we are implementing a change to select ALD valve assemblies to improve the consistency of the sensor response. This will result in a slight visual change to the assembly.
Currently a lock washer is present below the jam nut on ALD valves with installed sensors for assembly purposes only; the lock washer does not play a role in the function of the valve assembly. Moving forward, this lock washer will be removed on select assemblies, reducing variability in sensor response times. Please note this does not impact the function of the valve. At this time, this change will only impact the following ordering numbers due to market-specific considerations:
While this change is implemented, you may see shipments containing both versions of the valve assembly until the transition is complete. Remaining ordering numbers are currently being evaluated for this change and remain unaffected until further notice.
Effective Date: February 20, 2020
Product Name: Update to 1/4 in. and 6 mm Assembly-by-Torque (AbT) Fittings
Description and Reason for Change: The 1/4 in. and 6 mm sizes of the Assembly-by-Torque (AbT) fitting have been updated to utilize the patented dynamic zone in the nut design to provide a more readily available product and design consistency among all of the AbT fitting sizes. This update complements the prior launch of the 3/8 and 1/2 in., and 8, 10, and 12 mm sizes announced in 2017. All sizes are approved to NGV 3.1, ISO 15500, and ECE-R110.
Effective Date: February 14, 2020
Product Name: Packaging of High-Purity and Ultrahigh-Purity Valves
Description and Reason for Change: Historically, high-purity and ultrahigh-purity valves have been packaged on a white suspension card before being placed into a Swagelok box. Due to the supply chain for white cards, they have been replaced temporarily with brown suspension cards. These brown cards are functionally identical to the white cards with no impact to product quality. Bagging practices and materials will not change.
Effective Date: January 6, 2020
Product Name: Nylon Fittings and Alloy 20 Fittings, Hose and Valves
Description and Reason for Change: Nylon fittings will be discontinued; however, nylon nuts and ferrules will continue to be available. Alloy 20 fitting, hose, and valve products will be discontinued. A selection of valves and fittings in alloy 825, which has material characteristics similar to alloy 20, will continue to be available.
Effective Date: November 26, 2019
Product Name: Snoop® Liquid Leak Detector Fill Level
In addition, the caps on gallon size containers will transition from a standard cap to a safety cap over the next three to four months. This will prevent caps from accidentally coming loose. This will be a running change so you may receive orders with both cap styles until stock of the old style is depleted.
Effective Date: December 1, 2019
Product Name: T Series PTFE Hose
Description and Reason for Change: Swagelok's Hose Service Group is pleased to announce that the T Series PTFE hose will be transitioning from a swaged to a crimped design for assembly of end connections starting December 1, 2019.
While this change will allow us to increase manufacturing efficiency, we also anticipate these advantages:
- Improved product performance allowing for increased pressure ratings at elevated temperatures that will be updated, along with the product dimensions, in the Hose and Flexible Tubing catalog.
- Inclusion into local distributor crimp cell capabilities for local assembly.
The current swaged design will continue to be the only version supplied until December 1, 2019. Following that date, crimped ends will be supplied as end connection inventory of swaged assemblies are depleted. You may see both designs in orders containing multiple end connection types until the transition is complete.
Effective Date: August 30, 2019
Product Name: PB Series Rubber Hose
Description and Reason for Change: As a part of our effort to provide exceptional service to our customers and to facilitate ideal packaging of PB series hose and end connections, there is a change to the product line. Swagelok is making a design improvement on the end connections that will eliminate the finishing cap. This change will allow for bulk packaging, eliminating the need to cut open individual bags, and provide a cleaner visual appearance.
The removal of the finishing cap may require minor changes to the length and/or outside dimension of the end connection. An updated Hose and Flexible Tubing catalog is available and reflects the dimensional changes associated with the new end connection, as well as the visual changes due to the removal of the finishing cap.
The new supply of bulk hose may have minor visual differences specific to the color and surface finish. The same color options will be provided, however, there may be slight differences in the shade of the colors. The gray color hose will contain black text in place of white text. The black color bulk hose will be constructed with a Neoprene cover for added UV and ozone resistance. The hose reel size and/or material may also change.
Effective Date: September 30, 2019Product Name: Swagelok Facing Tool Service Update for SWS-232EP Model
Description and Reason for Change:
Swagelok will no longer service the SWS-232EP model facing tool as of September 30, 2019, or until spare parts can no longer be supplied, whichever comes first. Sales of the SWS-232EP were discontinued in 2011 in conjunction with the release of the MS-TF series facing tools.
Swagelok continues to offer the MS-TF series facing tools. Refer to Tube Facing Tools, TF16, TF24, TF40, and TF72 Series, MS-02-426, for additional information on those models. We have continued service and support of the SWS-232EP facing tool since 2011. However, our suppliers are no longer able to supply components to meet our servicing commitments for the SWS-232EP.
Effective Date: July 1, 2019
Product Name: PB Series Rubber Hose End Connections
Description and Reason for Change:
As a part of our effort to provide exceptional service to our customers and to facilitate the packaging of PB series hose and end connections, two changes are being made to the product line. First, Swagelok is making a design improvement on the end connections that will eliminate the finishing cap. This change will allow for bulk packaging, eliminating the need to cut open individual bags by you or your customer, and provide a cleaner visual appearance. Second, we are moving the bulk hose product to a new supplier. The new supplier is already used for other Swagelok products.
Product ratings will be unchanged as the new supplier will meet the same performance requirements. Swagelok has validated both bulk hose suppliers for both end connection designs to ensure there is no concern for intermix between designs or suppliers. These changes will go into effect no earlier than July 1st, 2019. Following that date, there will be a transition period where both end connection designs may be received in orders as existing inventory is depleted.
Effective Date: January 9, 2019
Product Name: FKB Series Medium-Pressure Ball Valve Standard Handle
Description and Reason for Change:
Swagelok is continuously looking for ways to improve our products. The standard handle for the FKB series ball valve has been changed to incorporate a blue vinyl sleeve for increased gripping power, replacing the blue powder coating. These changes will improve functionality and simplify the standard product offering. The new handle is non-positionable. The positionable handle is available as an option.
Effective Date: February 2019
Product Name: Crimping for Thermoplastic Hose Assemblies
Description and Reason for Change:
As part of ongoing continuous improvement efforts, our assembly process for TP hose will be standardized to use only crimping, effective February 1, 2019. This was one of several opportunities for enhancing hose assemblies identified through hose assessments in 2017 and 2018. The standardization will promote assembly consistency, optimize implementation of best practices, and streamline service and support for crimp tooling and equipment.
We will continue to support customer swaging of thermoplastic hose through the availability of swaging equipment and components
* Applicable changes which would require notification to a Distributor or end user include changes which impact the form, fit or function of a product attribute or measurement as described in Swagelok data readily available to customers or when a change is made that is cosmetically detectable to the customer.
